The cant

How the city talks

Not a glossary. The private language of the scene — Hey Ryan, demand dinner, ops hour, Colossus envy. If people here already say it, it belongs. Members add words.

A studio of one

The Alliance’s phrase: a person plus a crew of tools, no department required.

“He ran a studio of one and still made the film.”

Body

The room that is the city: runs, hikes, bikes, paddles, recovery, yoga.

“Skip the keynote. Do body.”

Cant

The private language of a scene. Not a glossary. The words you only hear at the table.

“He still said framework. He has not learned the cant.”

Circles

Accountability groups. Small on purpose. You said you would be there.

“I missed the meetup. I did not miss the circle.”

Co-eat

Eating together on purpose. Not a mixer. A table with a question.

“Skip the happy hour. Come to co-eat.”

Colossus envy

Wanting someone else’s cluster. Usually a tell that you have not defined the job.

“The pitch had Colossus envy and no customer.”

Demand dinner

A meal where buyers talk and builders listen. Opposite of a pitch night.

“We killed the feature after demand dinner. Nobody would pay for it.”

Giga

Synecdoche for Tesla’s factory and the southeast of the city where the humanoids live. Also a commute.

“He took the Giga job and disappeared from downtown for six months.”

Hey Ryan

The tap. The roll call that turns a city of Slack lurkers into a room. Also the house name for the body, table, build, demand, and ops calendar.

“I cannot make the conference. I will see you at Hey Ryan.”

Keep Austin agentic

Local graffiti of the moment. Means: ship work, do not become a chatbot with a LinkedIn headline.

“The sticker on the laptop said keep Austin agentic.”

Nights

The calendar, called what it is. Not events. Nights you actually go to.

“I cannot do the summit. I will do the nights.”

Ops hour

The unglamorous standing meeting for people whose agents page them. Evals, handoffs, on-call.

“If it is not in ops hour, it is a demo.”

Silicon Hills

The old nickname. Still true. Less cute now that the hills have robots.

“She left the Bay for Silicon Hills and meant it.”

The board

Where the city pins what it is shipping. Apps, courses, rooms. You upvote with your name on it.

“Put it on the board before you put it on LinkedIn.”

The prompt

The sentence the house is talking about this week. Not a newsletter. A use case you say out loud.

“We ran the prompt at co-eat. Nobody had a customer.”

Vibe code

Building by feel and a model until it works. Fine for a Tuesday. Not a factory.

“We vibe-coded the landing page. The billing system got an engineer.”
